i met up an ex-colleague from bangkok office today. it was really a relaxing day. she brought me to a place which i don’t think i will go.
we met up for lunch at the famous luxury shopping center along sukhumivt road- emquartier – just opposite the popular emporium shopping mall.
the emquartier opened in march 2015. it was very spacous with many designer brands and dozens of restaurants, office, event halls and a cool atrium garden with waterfall.
the design of emquartier has giant glass panels fronting the mall and its sweeping futuristic floors enclosing a cool outside concourse space. there’s also plenty of grass, plants and trees added to each level.
the mall is split up into three different zones, one of which is actually in a separate building connected by several walkways. the zones are “the glass quartier”, “the helix quartier”, and “the waterfall quartier”.
we had an hour chat over fish and chips from the open weekend market on the ground floor.
after the lunch, we proceed into the mall where she needed to get some souvenirs from the supermarket. i saw that the popular japan cheese tart “bake” has a branch there and i decided to get it since i was waiting and the queue is not long. the price of each tart is 8 baht.
address: the emquartier, ground floor, the waterfall quartier. (there’s another outlet located in the central world, 7th floor)
after eating on the spot, we start to find our way to the garden. we passed by the waterfall quarter, which is amazingly beautiful. and i didn’t take photo of it!!
after asking at the customer service, we finally found the beautiful place. the view from there is fantastic. and it is especially beautiful in the evening.
we proceed to look for food at the helix quarter, where you will be able to find many restaurants by walking on an impressive spiral walkway. we finally decided to have our dinner at nara, one of the famous thai food restaurant.
nara means “thai woman” in sanskrit language. the thai restaurant was founded in 2003 by a group of femal entrepreneurs, and it’s name comes from the name of one of the founders – narawadee srikarnchana
there are a few branches of nara thai restaurant in bangkok, and i have been to the one at erawan hyatt hotel. do check out the address and the operating hours from the website. i would say the food is real nice. there is also a branch in orchard singapore but i have yet to try it.
getting to emquartier bangkok is very easy. the building itself and emporium are just standing at each side of phrom phong bts station.
on the way back, i once again passed by central world, and captured the building deco again.
since this is the last night in bangkok, of course i have to do packing to be ready. i have not this for long time – to lay the stuffs bought in this trip on the bed and take picture. so, here’s what i have bought!
